FIELD: environment protection, particularly to conserve valuable components in mineral waste stores and to prevent ground, underground water and atmospheric air pollution with toxic chemicals, namely shields for mud storage facilities, depositing sites and dumps.

SUBSTANCE: method involves preparing waterproofing mix including polyethylene waste in amount of 70-99% and polypropylene waste in amount of 1-30%; providing 2-5° slope of storage facility surface from storage facility center to edge thereof; pouring the waterproofing mix over storage facility surface; heat-treating thereof under waterproofing mix melting temperature or under top storage facility layer melting temperature and applying isolation layer on cooled waterproof surface. The isolation layer comprises coarse material and has 3-10 cm thickness.

EFFECT: prevention of underground water contamination and dusting to eliminate emission of components, including valuable ones, from massif body.
