SKETCHING BLOCK Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A47B97/04 

FIELD: portable equipment for carrying of paint and auxiliary frame with oil painting or cardboard inserts utilized for sketching using oil paints on fabric or cardboard in studio or plain air.

SUBSTANCE: sketching block has hollow casing formed as box with pivotally connected cover and bottom, picture holders, telescopic legs and adjustable belt. Each of said picture holders has two thrusts and two locking rods. Thrusts are pivotally secured on side panels at inner side of cover and are formed as T-shaped plates. Both end portions of horizontal strip are bent in one direction so as to define flanges. Rods are used to perform double function: pressing of sketch to picture holder thrusts when sketching block is in operating position and locking of casing when sketching block is in transport position.

EFFECT: simplified construction, wider operational capabilities and reduced total weight of sketching block.
