FIELD: roll-type membrane filter elements for reverse osmosis, nano-, ultra- and micro-filtration processes.
SUBSTANCE: proposed filter element has central tube with radial holes and membrane stacks spirally wound around it; each stack consists of membrane folded in two, turbulization screen and porous material. Several peripheral tubes with membrane stacks secured on them are smoothly located around central tube in parallel and at similar distance from center. Peripheral tube is located inside membrane folded in two. Membrane stacks are sealed-up by filling both ends of member but for holes in tubes with heat-activated adhesive composition or melt of thermoplastic material. Liquid to be filtered is admitted to membrane element through its external cylindrical surface over spiral passages towards center and method of removal of concentrate and filtrate is dictated by orientation of active layer of membrane in stack.
EFFECT: increased throughput of filter element; low labor input; possibility of using element in deadlock conditions.
