FIELD: space engineering; spacecraft control and attitude stabilization systems.

SUBSTANCE: proposed device has main elastic band wound on drum which is transformed into tubular rod during extension. Device is also provided with additional elastic transformable band whose width is lesser as compared with main band; it is also wound on drum together with main band on its inner side. In orbit, both bands are reeled off the drum (spontaneously or with the aid of drive) and are rolled in cylinders forming the rod. Cylinders are coaxially located one inside other. Inner cylinder is shielded against thermal action of solar rays by means of outer cylinder, thus decreasing thermal bending of rod. Besides that, rod possesses enhanced rigidity.

EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of orientation of spacecraft due to reduced thermal bending of rod; simplified construction; enhanced operational reliability.
