FIELD: mechanical engineering; engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to free-piston engines and which can be used to drive slow-speed piston pumps without intermediate transformation of motion and any consumers from rotating drive shaft using high-or low-potential energy of gas mixtures as source of energy. Proposed free-piston engine contains base on which cylinder is installed accommodating piston, intake and exhaust valves with their drive mechanisms. According to invention, cylinder is secured on base for rocking in vertical plane relative to center of its longitudinal axis. On both ends of cylinder heads with intake and exhaust valves are fitted to which working medium is delivered by means of flexible lines.
EFFECT: simplified transmission of power to consumers without use of intermediate media at higher reliability and efficiency and possibility of use of energy of low potential gas media as energy source.
