FIELD: mechanical engineering; transport engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for damping vibrations of vehicles. Proposed method of damping vertical vibrations of objects with pneumatic elastic members includes periodical reduction of restoring force of main pneumatic elastic element of suspension at beginning of each rebound stroke by delivering additional mass of gas to additional elastic member and subsequent removal of said gas mass at beginning of each compression stroke. Delivery of additional mass of gas to additional elastic member is provided from self-contained power source, for instance, receiver of vehicle, and subsequent bleeding of gas mass at beginning of each compression stroke into atmosphere is provided.
EFFECT: improved damping properties of pneumatic suspension, provision of control of elastic damping characteristics over entire amplitude frequency range under external action.
