FIELD: powder metallurgy, namely manufacture of sintered elongated blanks of alloy on base of tungsten, possibly production of bodies of armor-piercing shells.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of pouring mixture of metallic powders and(or) alloy powder by batch dozes to container; performing continuous layer by layer sintering of each batch of powder with blank part by induction heating in hydrogen atmosphere till temperature 1700-2000°C; after-pressing each batch and simultaneously forming on blank surface charging recess for next batch. Apparatus includes hopper for powder provided with agitator; adjustable metering device; feeder with gate; movable container for placing powder; concentrators and inductor arranged coaxially to movable container; refrigerator and pulling mechanism. Feeder is in the form cylindrical vessel inside which gate is arranged coaxially to it. Gate and vessel may be moved one relative to other and relative to blank axis at independent motion speeds. Lower ends of gate and vessel are in the form of cones.
EFFECT: possibility for producing blank of any desired length, elimination of non-uniformity of chemical content, uniform microstructure along length of blank.
