FIELD: technology of superhard materials; manufacture of tools for processing plastics, ceramics, rocks, metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: backing made from hard alloy material, for example mixture of tungsten and titanium carbides is brought in contact with superhard powder material. Powder contains mixture of cube and wurtzite-like boron nitride at mass ratio of from 20: 1 to 1:20. Graininess of cube boron nitride ranges form 5/3 to 200/160 mkm. Mixture is subjected to sintering continued for 1-2 minutes at temperature and pressure in area of thermodynamic stability of cube boron nitride. Composition of cutting layer includes 50 to 100 mass-% of cube boron nitride. Yield of rock product is 70 to 80%. Compositions containing 100 mass-% of cube boron nitride possess maximum wear resistance at continuous turning and compositions containing 50 to 80 mass-% of cube boron nitride posses maximum wear resistance at intermittent turning.
