FIELD: engineering of means for protecting documents from forgery.
SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, marking substance absorbs radiation of infrared spectrum area in range of wave lengths from 1000 to 2500 nanometers, but is incapable of significant absorption of either visible spectrum radiation nor radiation with wave length of about 800 nanometers. In addition to marking substance it is recommended to make an imprint, which absorbs radiation of visible part of spectrum and radiation with wave length of about 800 nanometers, but does not absorb radiation with wave length belonging to range from 1000 to 2500 nanometers. Claim also describes a method for checking authenticity of important document or protective designation by irradiation of designated part with infrared radiation having wave length within range from 1000 to 2500 nanometers, and determining degree of absorption by this designated part of infrared radiation with wave length belonging to aforementioned range.
EFFECT: documents are fitted with visually indistinguishable designations, which are simple to make.
