FIELD: mining industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns production of alumina from bauxites, wherein aluminate solution processing comprises multistep evaporation with crystallization of sodium carbonate in the last evaporation step and simultaneous circulation of solution, settling of concentrated solution to form clarified solution and thickened pulp, and separation of sodium carbonate. Part of thickened pulp is returned to last evaporation step at ratio (1-3):1 to amount of concentrated solution. Circulation speed is 2.5 m/s. Crystallization is conducted for 0.3 to 1 h at concentration of crystalline phase in solution being evaporated 250-400 g/L.
EFFECT: coarsened sodium carbonate crystals, which facilitates separation thereof from solution.
