FIELD: powder metallurgy, namely manufacture of hard-alloy tools for cold and hot mechanical working, possibly cutting tools, drilling tools and draw plates.
SUBSTANCE: tool is made of hard alloy containing tungsten mono-carbide, titanium carbide and cementing cobalt binder. Near-surface layer with thickness 3 -15 micrometers includes 50 -99.5 mass % of (Ti,W)C. Crystal lattices of carbide phases in near-surface layer have integral disorder degree (b/a)Σ < 2. (b/a)Σ = (b/a)(Ti,W)C -C(Ti,W)C + (b/a)WC - CWC where (b/a)(Ti,W)C -disorder of crystalline lattice of (Ti,W)C; (b/a)WC -disorder of crystalline lattice of WC; C(Ti,W)C -concentration of (Ti,W)C mass%; CWC -concentration of WC, mass%; b = β2 /β1 ; a = tgν2/tgν1 ; β - physical widening of diffraction line; ν - angular position of gravity center of diffraction line; indexes 1 and 2 correspond to diffraction lines taken at small and large diffraction angles of X-rays.
EFFECT: high strength factor of tool and therefore its increased useful life period.
