FIELD: hydraulic structures, particularly sluices with balancing pond.
SUBSTANCE: sluice has lock chamber with gate and balancing pond with water displacement member. The balancing pond is made as floating unit arranged in lock chamber and provided with movement mechanism, which provides floating unit movement along lock chamber height. Floating block includes three sections. Upper and lower sections are made as sealed air-tight floating cavities. Central section is formed as hollow vessel connected with lock chamber through water conduit with blocking means. Water displacement member is piston arranged inside hollow vessel and sealed with respect to bottom, top and side walls of the vessel. The piston is provided with braking mechanism. Vessel bottom and top surfaces mating the piston are parallel to each other and inclined from said water conduit.
EFFECT: simplified sluice structure and operation, as well as decreased material consumption.
