FIELD: methods and procedure of measurements of dispersion characteristics of radar targets, in particular, measurement of the effective dispersion area of the ground objects by aviation side-looking radars with a synthesized antenna aperture.
SUBSTANCE: the method for measurement of the effective dispersion area of ground objects by radars with a synthesized antenna aperture based on absolute amplitude calibration of the radar circuit includes the use of the system of external (ground) calibration in the form of sets of standard angle reflectors located on a homogeneous area of the earth surface, aerophotography with the use of radars with a synthesized antenna aperture of this area of the earth surface at preset values of the flight altitude and course of the carrier, production of radar images of the area of the earth surface with the standard angle reflectors, measurement of the parameters of image of each standard reflector on the obtained radar image, processing of the results of measurements and estimation of the parameters of calibration of the through passage of the radar with a synthesized antenna aperture and effective dispersion area of ground objects.
EFFECT: reduced error of measurement of the effective dispersion area of ground objects.
