FIELD: nuclear power plants having reactor and engine wherein heat released by reactor is converted into mechanical energy.
SUBSTANCE: primary gas coolant is force-circulated in contact with core 5 of high-temperature nuclear reactor 1 over closed loop; second gas used for heat exchange is heated by heat transferred from first gas used for heat exchange; second gas heated by gas coolant in intermediate heat exchanger 7 is also used for driving at least one gas turbine 2 coupled with electric generator 4. First gas used for heat exchange is essentially helium and second gas used for heat exchange is mixture of 50 to 70 volume percent of helium and 50 to 30 volume percent of nitrogen. Second gas circulates over closed loop so that when heated by first gas, it sets in motion at least one gas turbine 2. Preferable design alternate of proposed device has also third loop 10 for circulation of water and steam produced by evaporation of water heated by part of fluid used for heat exchange and for driving steam turbines 3a, 3b, 3c principally mounted on shaft of electric generator 4.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of electrical energy generation process.
