FIELD: oil-extracting and oil-processing industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for separating water-oil emulsions and can be used in utilization of petroleum waste. Method involves mixing emulsion with water-base magnetic liquid with density 1.4-1.6 g/cm3, magnetic treatment of mixture, separation of mixture for hydrocarbon phase and water-base magnetic liquid with water extracted from the parent emulsion and the following regeneration of magnetic liquid. Magnetic treatment of the mixture is carried out simultaneously with separation of the mixture in gradient magnetic field. Before mixing with magnetic liquid emulsion can be diluted with light hydrocarbon solvent wherein gasoline fractions, technical toluene, xylenes and kerosene can be used. Separation of the mixture can be carried out in simultaneous effect of magnetic and centrifugal forces. Method provides effective separation of water-oil emulsion in industrial objects of oil-extracting and oil-processing industry and reducing exploitation and investment expenditures.
