FIELD: power engineering and fire safety, possible use for detecting a fire hazardous situation and for preventing emergencies and fires occurring due to sparking in electric network.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, voltage of the electric network being diagnosed is filtered, transformed to discontinuous signal, detection of signal corresponding to sparking process is performed, identification code words are generated which correspond to the moment of signal appearance relatively to zero transition of voltage of the network being diagnosed, the number of pulses in signal, intensity of signal appearance in time, position of signal in case of block structure of sparking. Resulting four identification code words are combined in the code word corresponding to class of sparking, and compared to model of distribution dependence of sparking class on time, remaining until occurrence of pre-fire situation, resulting code is transformed to numeric time value and indication of time remaining until occurrence of pre-fire situation is performed. Device contains rectification block (1), Schmidt trigger (2), univibrators (3-5), generator (6), counters (7-14), OR (15), decoders (16-18), rejecter filter (19), comparator (20), AND (21-23), NOT (24), delay element (25), registers (26-27), memory blocks (28,29), indication block (30).

EFFECT: increased trustworthiness when determining time remaining until occurrence of pre-fire situation due to sparking in electric network.
