FIELD: electrical engineering; continuous current collection and signal transfer between relatively movable pieces of equipment.
SUBSTANCE: novelty in proposed method and device where brush running distance amounts to 40 000 km is that products of wear are entrapped due to action of both constant magnetic field and field of centrifugal forces set up in contact gear rotation. Products of wear are accumulated either on magnetic-field source surface or on inner surface of magnetically-permeable shell whereto products of wear pass through current-collector casing ports due to field of centrifugal forces set up in the course of rotation of shaft carrying ring of slip-ring pair. Composition of contact-pair magnetically soft materials is chosen so as to minimize amount of products of wear at admissible friction coefficients, contact resistance between sliding contacts, and noise level in signal circuits of current collector with signal frequency up to 7 - 9 MHz. Products of wear have high ohmic resistance in loose condition (minimum 10 kΩ) which ensures desired insulation resistance of sliding-contact electric circuits even in case of their shorting by falling-out products of wear.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability of continuously running current collector due to more complete accumulation and minimized quantity of products of wear at optimal friction coefficient, contact resistance, and noise level in signal circuits, electrical resistance of loose products of wear being high.
