SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, rectifying cell control angle is measured after melting current of the transformer reaches given level, it is compared to allowed value, and if measured control angle of rectifying cells exceeds allowed value, angle of rectifying cell control is reduced on one of two bridges down to minimally allowed one in rectifying mode and simultaneously rectifying cell control angle is increased in second bridge with transfer of second bridge to inverter mode for adjustment of melting current.
EFFECT: reduced losses of active power and consumption of reactive power during melting of ice coating on short power line.
