METHOD FOR SELECTING OF RICE Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A01H1/04 

FIELD: agriculture, in particular, method for selecting of rice plants.

SUBSTANCE: method involves selecting rice sorts; sowing seeds on working plots of selection field and growing; marking selection field into working plots by number of selected sorts; sowing seeds of one sort on each of working plots; growing; evaluating plants during ripeness stage and manually harvesting; sowing seeds of selected plants on working plots marked according to the same pattern during at least three following years until stable features of novel sorts are obtained. In order to mark selection field, working plot is selected in center of said field and three concentric circles are marked. Three groups of working plots are arranged on circle first from center, said plots being spaced apart from one another by equal angular distances. Five groups of working plots are arranged on second circle, said plots being spaced apart from one another by equal angular distances. Seven groups of working plots are arranged on outer circle, said plots being spaced from one another by equal angular distances. Each group of plots arranged on circle first from center consists of two plots, one of said two plots being arranged on circle and other - on radial line extending through first plot. Each group of plots on second circle consists of seven plots grouped in the form of three-rayed figure, with central plot being arranged on circle and two plots - on each ray. Each group of plots on outer third circle consists of five three-rayed figures, seven plots in each ray, said plots being symmetrically arranged around central plot of group arranged on outer circle.

EFFECT: intensified creation of rice sorts having principally new properties.
