FIELD: power electronics; single-phase high-frequency and heavy-power supplies.
SUBSTANCE: proposed converter designed for single-phase, heavy-power (over 1.0 kV) supply at 220 V, 400 Hz and for short-time running at 50% overload has three-phase isolating input power transformer, rectifier with choke filter and gradual -start module controlled by pulsed bridge inverter built around isolated-gate bipolar transistors, single-phase high-frequency filter, electrically isolated single-phase output transformer, three-channel warning device controlling phase voltage in each of three phases, control unit, voltage, current, and temperature sensors, and five pilot lights (light-emitting diodes) operating at different lighting modes and colors. Control unit has switch, analog-to-digital converter, crystal oscillator, logic module, processor, temperature sensor, buffer and pulse amplifiers. Converter is provided with fan-free convective air cooling system. Converter has no visual monitoring instruments nor control elements. Its efficiency is 90% and trouble-free operation probability is 0.9.
EFFECT: facilitated maintenance in operation, enhanced reliability, reduced mass and size, improved metrological characteristics.
