FIELD: nuclear power engineering; decontaminating radioactive wastes from radionuclides to safe concentration and their storage.
SUBSTANCE: proposed radioactive waste decontamination and storage device has container incorporating cast metal housing and cover. Contained is provided with deformable energy-absorbing components. Container accommodates filter filled with ion-selective sorbent and is divided throughout entire volume into sections through height and radius. Filter neck mounts sealing plug with gripping member in the form of mushroom-shaped head. Thickness of container walls is sufficient to ensure radiation shielding and mechanical damage protection. Energy-absorbing deformable components have circular grooves and shielding shell. Container housing has collar in top part; ring is attached to cover and alignment spacer is installed on its top.
EFFECT: enhanced environmental safety of filtrate, reduced amount of liquid radioactive wastes, enhanced reliability of protection against home radiation and mechanical damage in transit.
