FIELD: agricultural engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method involves regulating rotational frequency of threshing drum by intensity of variations in torque on screw shaft; varying rotational frequency of threshing drum by means of pump working volume regulator; regulating gaps between threshing drum and deck by intensity of variations in torque on shaft of threshing drum in accordance with grain losses. Apparatus has screw shaft connected to drive mounted on shaft of hydraulic motor connected through hydraulic line having pressure sensor to pump. Threshing drum shaft is coupled to shaft of hydraulic motor shaft with pressure sensor of respective pump furnished with working volume regulator. Pressure sensors of hydraulic lines, rotational frequency sensor for threshing drum, threshing drum and deck gap sensor, and grain losses sensor are connected to first, second, third, forth and fifth inputs of control unit. Regulators for controlling working volume of pump, speed of combine, and gaps between threshing drum and deck are connected to first, second, and third outputs of control unit.

EFFECT: reduced consumption of power for threshing process owing to regulation of rotational frequency of threshing drum and gaps between threshing drum and deck, and improved quality of grain due to reduced grain grinding.
