FIELD: electrical engineering; electric cable for medium- or high-voltage power transmission or distribution.
SUBSTANCE: proposed cable has at least one conductor covered with at least one extruded insulating layer made of non-cross-linked insulating material incorporating at least one thermoplastic polymer and at least one dielectric liquid; mentioned insulating layer thickness is sufficient to ensure stress gradient on outer surface of cable insulating layer of minimum 1.0 kV/mm; it also has protective member around mentioned insulating layer whose thickness and mechanical properties are chosen to ensure desired impact resistance; mentioned protective member has at least one foamed polymeric layer, and mentioned thickness is sufficient to sustain impact with energy of minimum 25 J without damage to insulating layer. Thickness of insulating layer and that of protective member can be chosen jointly to minimize total mass of cable and to prevent damage to insulating layer at impact energy of minimum 25 J.
EFFECT: compact mechanical design of cable without reducing its electric and mechanical strength.
