FIELD: cables for predetermined voltage class.
SUBSTANCE: proposed cable has conductor covered with insulating layer, its thickness being chosen for sustaining predetermined power load when normal voltage complying with predetermined class is applied across cable, as well as shielding member around mentioned conductor whose thickness and mechanical properties are chosen to sustain preset impact resistance; mentioned shielding member has at least one expanded polymeric layer. Thickness of insulating layer and that of shielding member are jointly chosen to minimize total mass of cable provided damage to insulating layer due to impact with energy of 50 J is prevented. Proposed method for cable development includes evaluation of insulating and shielding layer thickness. This method may also include evaluation of expanded polymeric layer thickness; shielding layer may incorporate non-expanded polymeric layer.
EFFECT: provision for producing more compact cable of desired mechanical and electrical characteristics.
