FIELD: textile engineering, in particular, weaving loom parts.
SUBSTANCE: back rest of weaving loom comprises movable three-layer enclosure having outer layer made from friction material, reinforcing middle layer and inner antifriction layer, said enclosure extending through the entire working width of back rest. Back rest is immovably positioned so that its part facing inward of weaving loom is provided through the entire working width thereof with longitudinal friction layer for cyclic engagement with inner layer of enclosure by means of mechanical clamping device. Clamping device is made in the form of slide with friction layer fixed thereon so as to face back rest, and immovable guides extending along working width of loom opposite friction layer so that on reciprocation of slide said layer cyclically cooperates with outer friction layer of enclosure. There is at least one circular slot (or protrusion) in surface of back rest, which is aligned with at least one circular protrusion (or slot) of enclosure inner layer in case insignificant gap is formed.
EFFECT: intensified weaving process with increased number of weft threads per unit of time, and wider range of kinds of fabric due to more rigid battening of weft thread.
