FIELD: molded lithium casting with protection circuit module insert and battery having such casting.

SUBSTANCE: proposed casting with protection circuit module (PCM) insert is manufactured by inserting PCM module incorporating board carrying protection circuit and terminals, as well as optional leads; board carrying protection circuit, terminals, and leads are electrically interconnected within mold and molten polymer is injected into inner space of this mold under pressure so that leads partially protrude outside in case PCM contains leads or so that terminals partially protrude outside when PCM does not incorporate leads. As PCM is manufactured by way of casting in mold with insert when protection circuit and battery cell are disconnected, that is, when battery is deenergized, PCM can be molded using standard polymers.

EFFECT: enhanced electrical stability, ability of dispensing with insulation to prevent short circuit, infrequent occurrence of troubles in electrical equipment.
