METHOD FOR PREPARING OF SPECIAL FRESH ONION FOR STORAGE Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A23L3/00 

FIELD: process for preparing of fresh onion for further usage in space feeding.

SUBSTANCE: method involves sequentially extracting Mortierella gracilis micromycet biomass using non-polar extractant in above-critical state, water, alkali, water, acid, water, alkali, and water; joining first extract with solid residue for producing of preparation from biomass; sterilizing distilled water, gauze wads and smoking paper; preparing 70%-ethyl alcohol solution and 0.01%-suspension of biomass preparation using sterilized distilled water; inspecting bulb onion; washing in running water; holding in suspension of biomass preparation at room temperature during 5 min; drying at temperature of 35±5 C until residual moisture content of upper layer scale is 18-20%; removing loosely adhering covering scale layers; cutting off neck part; cleaning stem; wiping each onion bulb with sterilized gauze wad soaked in ethyl alcohol solution; providing ultraviolet radiation of onion at opposite sides thereof during 30 min at radiation power of 1.5-2.5 W/m³; individually packaging each onion bulb in smoking paper under aseptic conditions and placing in single layers into sterile polymeric trays.

EFFECT: prolonged storage life of onion.
