METHOD FOR PREPARING OF SPECIAL BULB ONION FOR STORAGE Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A23L3/00 

FIELD: preparing of fresh bulb onion for storage and further usage in space feeding.

SUBSTANCE: method involves sequentially extracting biomass of Mortierella nantahalensis micromycet using non-polar extractant in above-critical state, water, alkali, water, acid, water, alkali, and water; joining first extract with solid residue for producing of preparation from said biomass; sterilizing distilled water, gauze wads and smoking paper; preparing 70%-ethyl alcohol solution and 0.005%-suspension of biomass preparation, using sterilized distilled water as base; inspecting bulb onion; wiping each bulb with sterilized gauze wad soaked in ethyl alcohol solution; removing non-tightly adhering covering scale and holding bulb in biomass preparation suspension during 5 min; cutting-off neck part; cleaning base and washing bulb with ethyl alcohol solution, with bulb neck portion being oriented downward; drying at temperature of 35±5 C until residual moisture content of upper scale is 18-20%; wiping each bulb with sterilized gauze wad soaked in ethyl alcohol solution; exposing each side of bulb to ultraviolet radiation during 30 min at radiation intensity of 1.5-2.5 W/m³; packaging each bulb under aseptic conditions in smoking paper and placing in single layer within sterilized polymer trays.

EFFECT: prolonged shelf life of bulb onion.
