SUBSTANCE: recording method makes it possible to include file record format and control information into user area, in accordance to file attribute, and to record control information onto record carrier in previous record format on receipt of instruction at the beginning of record in new record format, and closure of recorded file in previous recording format, to begin recording in new recording format. Recording device realizes claimed method. Record carrier contains control program, which may be read by controlling computer for realization of claimed method.
