FIELD: manufacture of optical fibers with hardened polymer coats.
SUBSTANCE: proposed optical fiber has glass part and at least one layer of protective coat which embraces glass part. Layer of protective coat is characterized within temperature range of from -40 C to +60 C by magnitude of modulus of elasticity between 5 Mpa and 600 Mpa; difference (V1) between modulus of elasticity measured at temperature of -40 C and that measured at temperature +60 C does not exceed 495 Mpa for protective layer. It is preferable that modulus of elasticity does not exceed 500 Mpa and more preferable 450 Mpa and most preferable 300 Mpa. It is preferable that layer of protective coat is made in form of single layer which is brought in contact with glass part.
EFFECT: enhanced protection of optical fiber; reduced attenuation of signal due to availability of micro-bends.
