FIELD: chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing synthetic mustard oil (allylmustard oil, allylisocyanate). Method involves the following steps: interaction of allyl chloride and potassium thiocyanate (sodium or ammonium) in aqueous medium at temperature from 20°C to a solvent boiling point in the presence of interphase transfer catalysts to yield allyl thiocyanate followed by the isomerization reaction of allyl thiocyanate to allyl isothiocyanate in the presence of zinc chloride as a catalyst to form the reaction product as organic layer containing allyl isothiocyanate and aqueous layer. Then method involves separation of aqueous layer from organic layer, rectifying organic layer containing allyl isothiocyanate under vacuum at residual pressure 40-80 mm of mercury column, and the following successive isolation of three fractions showing boiling points below 80°C, 80°C (the main fraction) and above 80°C. Method provides preparing synthetic mustard oil with the content of allyl isothiocyanate above 98-99%.
EFFECT: improved method of synthesis.
