FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry, specifically to a method for synthesis of 2-(fluoromethoxy)-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropane (sevoflurane), an inhalation anaesthetic used in medicine. Method involves obtaining sevochlorane by reacting hexafluoroisopropanol with paraform or trioxane in chlorosulphonic acid, separating sevochlorane by washing with water and subsequent rectification. Further fluorination of sevochlorane is characterized by the fact that it is reacted with KF while boiling in aqueous acetonitrile in the presence of triethylbenzylammonium chloride as a phase-transfer catalyst, and the end product is extracted directly from the reaction mixture by rectification.
EFFECT: providing a method of producing an end product with purity higher than 99,9% and with high output.
