FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of alloys based aluminum and silicon: silumins. Charge silicon is preheated at 900-1000°C in water steam atmospheric for 5-15 h and then added to aluminum melt.
EFFECT: lowered linear expansion coefficient of silumins within the range 150 to 300°C.
