METHOD AND COMPRESSION DEVICE FOR MAKING FEMUR NECK OSTEOSYNTHESIS Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A61B17/56 A61B17/74 A61B17/88

Abstract RU 2322209 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves making opening to cortical layer depth with cannulated drill along guiding wire after having set fractured bone fragments from subtrochanteric region. Then, compressing threaded device is screwed into femur neck along guiding wire axis by means of removable handle by rotating the compressing device clockwise in sawing out cylindrical bone tissue column with frontal compressing threaded device end milling cutter. Compressing threaded device canal lumen is filled with it. Next, the removable handle and guiding wire are removed and the wound is sutured layer-by-layer. Device has compressing threaded device and removable handle. The compressing threaded device is designed as hollow cylinder of 11-13 mm diameter, length of 84-114 mm having 1-1.5 mm thick wall, threaded on the external surface divided into frontal and back parts by smooth surface. Thread pitch is equal to 4-4.5 mm on 20-25 mm long frontal part. Thread pitch is equal to 3-3.5 mm on 30-35 mm long frontal part. Holes are available in compressing device wall, the holes being arranged as spiral 2-2.5 mm far from each other allover the whole compressing device length, and between thread coils as well. Crown mill is available on anterior part end, tooth height being equal to 1-1.5 mm and distance between teeth tips being 3-3.5 mm as large. Notch and M5-threaded hole are available at the end of back part 1.5 mm far from thread. The removable handle has three parts: internal one, casing and blank cover. The internal part is cylindrical rod of variable cross-section diameter. Thread identical to one available on mentioned back part end hole. Hole for introducing guiding wire and protrusion for said notch are available on the frontal casing end.

EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in directionally drilling a part of bone tissue separable from main bone bulk without crushing drilled hole walls.
