FIELD: electrical engineering; protective circuit-opening apparatuses.
SUBSTANCE: proposed high-speed electromagnet designed for overload and short-circuit protection of DC and AC power installations and lines depends for its operation on varying reluctance of its magnetic circuit in response to current variation in current-carrying bus and has U-shaped magnetic circuit with current-carrying bus passed through its opening, armature, and magnetic shunt connected to magnetic circuit bars to form magnetic circuit parallel to that of armature. Magnetic shunt has gap where permanent magnet saturated along magnetic shunt is built in. U-shaped magnetic circuit, armature, and magnetic shunt can be made in the form of thin-sheet electromagnetic steel laminated structures; magnetic shunt gap with built-in permanent magnet is shorted out by additional magnetic shunt made of non-laminated ferromagnetic steel.
EFFECT: enlarged functional capabilities.
