FIELD: railway transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organization and control of traffic on railway, namely, to methods and device recording and locating vehicle or train. Proposed method includes measuring output voltage of first rail pickup at no wheel over pickup and at presence of wheel, measuring values of voltages and getting of output signal stating the fact of wheel passing over first rail pickup. Wirth wheel passing over first rail pickup, moment of appearing of extreme value of output voltage is determined, output voltage of second rail pickup is measured and is compared with first preset threshold voltage range and thus fact of wheel passing along section of track is revealed. Device contains N rail pickups, amplitude detector, switches, comparators, threshold voltage levels setters and comparing device.

EFFECT: improved reliability of device owing to prevention of putting out of false output signals or omission of detection of vehicle axles.
