FIELD: methods for radar surveillance of terrain with the aim of detection of small-sized objectives, identification of them and location of these objectives with a high accuracy relative to their observed radar image of this terrain.

SUBSTANCE: the method consists in piloting and formation of the surface radar image with the aid of a radar with a synthesized aperture installed on the flight vehicle, detection identification and location of the objective in the co-ordinate system associated with production of the radar image, the flight vehicle uses a radar with a synthesized aperture with a resolution providing for formation only of a surveillance image. Besides, the respective section of the underlaying surface is subjected to piloting with the aid of a monitoring system with a synthesized aperture installed on a flight vehicle, and two additional radar images of this section are formed the first surveillance image with a resolution correlated with the resolution of the radar with a synthesized aperture installed on the flight vehicle, and the second detailed image-with a high resolution. With the aid of the second additional radar image the required objective is detected and its exact position is determined, the obtained co-ordinates of the objective are fixed on the first radar image that is referred to the radar image of the radar installed on the flight vehicle, thus determining the position of the desired objective in the flight vehicle. To improve the accuracy of the reference to each other of the two radar images, they are matched by the correlation-extreme method, the flight trajectories of the two flight vehicles and the step of calculation of the surveillance radars are correlated, several versions of the additional surveillance radar are formed.

EFFECT: all-weather detection and identification of a small-sized objective on the terrain is provided, its location is determined with a high accuracy at a use of a flight vehicle with a relatively simple radars with a synthesized aperture and special monitoring systems of the flight vehicle equipped with a radar with a synthesized aperture with the required characteristics, provided a reference of two surveillance radars of different flight vehicles with an accuracy corresponding to the resolution of the detailed radar of the flight vehicle by the monitoring system.
