FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of searching and identifying object on the ground in monochrome digital (with brightness gradations in each pixel) image of that locality, for example, radar image generated in radars with synthesized antenna due to multiple radiation in interval of synthesizing sounding signal and formation of virtual synthesized antenna array during aircraft motion. Specified technical result is achieved due to the fact that entire search area is divided into non-overlapping search squares of size NP×NP pixels, in each search square, sample mean and standard deviation of image brightness distribution are calculated, then calculate their ratio q and compare it with threshold qthr and, if ratio is less than threshold, then decision is made to detect candidate for sought object in this search box, and in all search squares in which decision is made to find candidate, they conduct his search and clarify his position.
EFFECT: increase in efficiency of object detection with significant reduction in amount of calculations.
