FIELD: printing industry.

SUBSTANCE: marks are put on one or more end surfaces of a book. The marks depict systemisation attributes. The size and place of putting the marks mark the beginning and end of the searched pages. The marks are put on one of the diagonals of the printing area, within the region of cells, named by small areas, formed by conventional vertical and horizontal lines. In the other alternative, on the surface perpendicular to the end surfaces of the book, marks are made using known methods, depicting systemisation attributes. The size and place of putting the marks mark the beginning and end of the searched group of pages. The marks are made in two or three columns. Indications of supplementary information on the beginning and end of the searched group of pages in the form of coloured rectangles are put, or in successively from one side to the other side of the mark, or in one column with displacement relative each other or in two columns. The marks are put within the limits of the cells, named by small areas, formed by conventional vertical and horizontal lines.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of searching information in books.
