FIELD: computer engineering. SUBSTANCE: printer has at least one rectangular matrix 1 with needle printing units 2 and perforated-tape drive. Each matrix 1 has its length equal to width of paper tape in tape drive: printing units 2 in each matrix 1 are arranged in parallel rows where adjacent printing units are shifted apart over matrix length and width through certain distance and adjacent rows are spaced apart towards matrix length at distance corresponding to specified one multiplied by number of printing units in one row. Changeable flexible plate 4 impregnated with dye tuff is placed between each matrix 1 and paper tape and is held in cartridge through its edges. EFFECT: simplified procedure, increased printing speed, improved quality, and provision for color printing. 4 cl, 5 dwg
