FIELD: technological processes, measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to measurement equipment, in particular, to measurements of length and movement speed of extended ferromagnetic items by method of magnetic marks. Magnet marks are applied on the moving item with pulse electromagnet. These marks are sensed by magnet transducer located at a fixed distance from electromagnet. Every following mark is applied in the moment of the previous mark sensing. The number of sensed marks in counted. The time interval is measured between neighbouring marks. Item speed V and length Lx are determined with the help of formulas:
where N - number of counted magnet marks; t- time interval between neighbouring marks; L0 - basic distance, determined for case V→0; k - experimentally determined value, which has time length.
EFFECT: reduction of item movement speed change effect on accuracy of its length measurement.
