FIELD: metallurgy, non-ferrrous.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to non-ferrous metallurgy, particularly to devices supplying current to a furnace bath with salt heating. The device is equipped with a protective fireproof block of various thickness located on the outer surface of an electrode for the whole length of electrode and caisson embedding into furnace lining; at that the caisson is made as two hollow reservoirs connected between them in their lower portions while a gap is formed in an upper part wherein the electrode is rigidly fixed; at that one reservoir has a sleeve for refrigerant input, and another reservoir has a sleeve for refrigerant output. Further the protective fireproof block is assembled out of three various thickness layers: the thickness of the layer between the salt melt and medium part of the fireproof block is equal 1/2 of the thickness of the electrode, the thickness of fireproof block middle part layer is equal to the electrode thickness, and the thickness of a layer from the middle part of the fireproof block to the cooling caisson is equal to two values of the electrode thickness. The fireproof block is made out of electrical insulating material, for example, fluoroflogopite or ceramic concrete. Due to hermeticity of electrode embedding into furnace lining the invention allows reducing current leaks from the electrode through a melt soaked lining between electrodes of different poles, also to increase reliability of salt furnace operation, to reduce emergency situations causing the destruction of furnace lining, on a whole it results in increasing furnace operation life several times and in cutting furnace repair costs.
EFFECT: increased furnace operation life and reduced furnace repair costs.
