FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to implementation of two layer centrifugal cast working rolls in stands of a quarter roughing group of a continuous hot rolling mill. The method suggests alternation of the roll operation in the stand with regrinding of effective barrel layers, reassembling them in stands as soon as a diameter of the barrel is reduced, and withdrawal of a worn roll out of operation. Increased wear resistance of rolls and upgraded quality of rolling is achieved by the following order: rolls operation begins from the first stand, while reassembling is performed in the direction of rolling; at that reassembling into each of the following stands is done when a diameter of the barrel does not exceed 6%, and withdrawal out of operation is carried out when a diameter of the barrel is reduced to a value of not less, than 0.905 from an initial diameter. As a material for an effective roll layer an alloy of a specified chemical composition is used; then operation of rolls is carried out at a temperature of metal rolled in a roughing group of stands at not more, than 1250° C.
EFFECT: upgraded roll wear resistance and quality of rolling.
