The recording medium cassette includes the upper and lower covers, the spool for the recording medium roll, located between the upper and lower covers, and the side cover to guard the spool and join the upper and the lower covers. The side cover is connected to the lower and the upper covers by the means of press fit connection or the latch fit connection. Another cassette version has the recording medium output zone and the first and the second flanges with one or more grooves. The cassette can contain the hollow recording medium spool and a gear inside the spool, driven in order to reel the medium off the spool. The printer includes the recording medium reception compartment designed to place a cassette in it. The cassette's edge can slide along the compartment groove when it is inserted in the reception compartment. The groove has the lock capable of locking the recording medium cassette. Other variant of the printer can contain the means with the sloping surface or the springy moving part, which can interact with the other means in such a way that when the cassette is inserted, the sloping surfaced means causes the motion of the springy moving part from the position where it interferes the cassette insertion.
