FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing the motor oil quality by means of optical appliances, in particular, to determination of alkali number and can be used under lab conditions, and in laboratories of petroleum refineries. The invention novelty consists in that the absorption bands of 1604, 1305, 1064 cm-1 making the primary components influencing the alkali number are defined. It is proposed to determined the alkali number from the experimentally obtained ratio.
EFFECT: reducing motor oil alkali number determination time, higher accuracy of determination and expanded range of determination techniques.
