METHOD OF CHILDREN ABSENTIA TREATMENT ASSOCIATED WITH IDIOPATHIC GENERALISED EPILEPSY Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A61B5/476 A61K31/19 A61K31/40 A61P25/08

Abstract RU 2329761 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, neurology and psychiatry. Method includes electroencephalographic (EEG) monitoring followed with analysis of EEG results and prescribed pharmacotherapy represented by applied depakine in daily dose 30 mg/kg further decreased to 20-25 mg/kg and suxilep in dose 2.5 mg/kg. In case of myoclonic absence benzodiazepine is also prescribed, and for frequent convulsive attacks treatment barbiturate is used. While clinicoencephalographic remission is achieved within six months at first benzodiazepine and then barbiturate are cancelled step by step under EEG monitoring if both were applied. Then suxilep is cancelled by 1 capsule per month, and at first day intake is cancelled, and thereafter - evening. One week after cancellation of each capsule control EEG is performed after partial sleep deprivation from 4 o'clock in the morning. If paroxysmal activity is intensified in comparison with previous EEG results, intake cancellation is stopped for six months, and dosage is returned one step back; depakine is cancelled in the last instance, cancellation begins after clinicoencephalographic remission is achieved for 5 years long. Invention provides improved results of treatment due to individual anticonvulsant therapy applied and cancellation principles depending on epilepsy course trends for various age periods of children.

EFFECT: provided improvement of absentia treatment results associated with epilepsy.
