FIELD: technological processes, metals processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to methods of wear resistant coatings application on cutting tool and may be used in metal processing. On working surfaces of cutting tool double-layer coating is applied with vacuum-plasma method. As bottom layer nitride of titanium, aluminium and chrome is applied that contains 5-6% of chrome, and as top layer nitride of titanium, aluminium and chrome is applied that contains 10-12% of chrome. Coating is applied with three evaporators that are installed in horizontal plane. Two opposite evaporators contain titanium and aluminium, and evaporator installed between them contains titanium and chrome. In application of bottom layer all three evaporators are used, and in application of top layer one of evaporators that contains aluminium is not used.
EFFECT: increase of cutting tool processing quality and increase of its serviceability.
