FIELD: metal working production, in particular, processes for deposition of wear-resistant coatings onto cutting tool.
SUBSTANCE: method involves providing vacuum-plasma deposition of double-layer coating, with lower layer being nitride of titanium, aluminum and iron containing 1.2-1.4 wt% of iron, and upper layer being the same nitride containing 0.4-0.6 wt% of iron; performing deposition of coating using three evaporators arranged in horizontal plane, of which evaporators two opposite evaporators contain titanium and aluminum, and evaporator positioned therebetween contains titanium and non-magnetic stainless steel. For deposition of upper layer, three cathodes are used, and for deposition of lower layer one of cathodes containing aluminum is not used in said process.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of cutting tool and quality of surface working owing to increased micro-hardness and wear-resistance, and also owing to reduced coefficient of delamination of deposited coating.
