FIELD: measuring instruments; non-destructive inspection.
SUBSTANCE: non-destructive method for estimation the adhesive strength of coatings consists in heating the coating surface and determining a parameter, from which the strength of adhesion between a coating and its substrate is estimated. A temperature of the coated substrate surface, which is obtained by solving a boundary inverse problem of transient heat conduction using measurements of the temperature on the uncoated opposite surface of the substrate, is chosen thereby as said parameter, from which the strength of coating-to-substrate adhesion is estimated.
EFFECT: extending the functional capabilities of adhesive strength estimation.
