SUBSTANCE: invention refers to metallurgy and can be used for fabricating tools operating at a high cutting speed. Steel contains, mass %: carbon 0.6-0.8; silicon 0.8-1.2; manganese 0.8-1.2; tungsten 10.0-12.0; molybdenum 1.8-2.2; chromium 4.0-6.0; vanadium 1.0-1.5; zirconium 0.2-0.4; calcium 0.01-0.02; cerium 0.1-0.2; boron 0.1-0.2; titanium 0.5-1.0; niobium 0.2-0.4; aluminium 0.01-0.02; cobalt 0.2-0.4, the rest being iron.
EFFECT: upgraded red-hardness of steel.
